THIS is why we endorsed her – what a great candidate.
Hello Everyone! My name is Chloe Maxmin. I am 26 years old and running for the Maine House of Representatives in rural District 88 (Chelsea, Whitefield, Jefferson, and part of Nobleboro) as a Democrat and Clean Elections candidate.
On June 12th, we made history. We won our Democratic Primary with 80% of the vote. More people voted for our movement alone than had voted in any previous Democratic Primary. The turnout exceeded previous records by 40%. We’ve been endorsed by Maine AFL-CIO, Maine Education Association, Maine State Employees Association–SEIU Local 1989, Run for Something, MoveOn.org, EqualityMaine, People for the American Way, and more. We’ve had over 50 Letters to the Editor in local papers for our campaign (and counting).
Now we’re heading towards November 6th, working to be the FIRST Democrat to be elected in District 88.
I grew up on my family’s farm and have always known that I would devote my life to our shared home. I went to Lincoln Academy for high school and Harvard for college. The day after I graduated, I moved back to build my life in Maine.
I’ve been a community organizer for thirteen years, over half my life, to call on our political system to fight for us and with us. We struggle everyday with rising healthcare costs, declining school funding, property taxes, student debt, a changing climate, and more. We need our politicians to take action. No one seems to listen or care anymore.
Our campaign is based on two simple ideas:
1) It’s time to elect politicians who actually represent the people with new energy and different perspectives. We need politicians who will fight for young people, our aging neighbors, farmers, fishermen, and all those who love Maine and believe in a better future. I am also a proud graduate of Emerge Maine, honored to join all the women running for office.
2) There is more that unites us than divides us. This campaign is about everyone in our community. We all want the best lives for our families and neighbors. It’s about making sure that we increase affordability and accessibility to in-home care and healthcare while fostering new creative businesses and investing in our schools. It’s about supporting reliable renewable energy and ensuring that our local economies flourish. We can work together to build something better and stronger.
This is a movement that is reviving political hope in rural America. Please follow along! Chloe Maxmin for State Representative in District 88
