When voting isn’t enough (hint: that would be now)

Here are some high-priority activities where
you can make a difference.

1. Saturday Oct. 20: Women for Women canvassing. 12-4pm, LCDC headquarters, Damariscotta.

Laura Fortman could help flip the Maine Senate and Holly Stover is running against a Republican in Boothbay who just told a reporter she wants to eliminate the minimum wage. We’ll be canvassing for them and other amazing women candidates in Lincoln County this weekend and WE NEED YOU!

This is sponsored by Suit Up Maine, Lincoln County Indivisible and Indivisible-Boothbay. And don’t worry if you’ve never canvassed. We’ll have training first and we go in pairs. We need drivers too! Email kelliwburton@gmail.com to sign up. Afterwards you can relax with local beer and music at the Rally for Democracy (same location). Please join us!!

2. Sunday, Oct. 21, 28 & Nov. 4: Canvass for Laura Fortman, 1-4pm. LCDC headquarters, Damariscotta.

Channel your frustrations and disappointment over the latest activities in Washington! Rally yourself and join us to push Laura over the TOP! Since we have only 3 weekends left that will be dedicated to Laura we really need you in this home stretch.

If you can work one or more of these last Sunday afternoon dates, please email Jan John at janjohn1us@yahoo.com. Tell her the date(s) you are available and whether you would like to be a driver or canvasser.

3. Monday, Oct. 22: Postcards for Laura, 7pm. LCDC headquarters, Damariscotta.

Postcard party, GOTV for Laura Fortman. We’re writing literally one sentence on hundreds of postcards, then adding address stickers and stamps. The more people that come, the faster it will go. BRING A FRIEND who has never done anything but vote before and introduce them to activism! Sign up with an email to LCIsteering@gmail.com.

4. Tuesday, Oct. 23: Fahrenheit 11/9 special showing, 6:30pm, Lincoln Theater. 25 and under free.

Pass the word on this. Printable flyer is here and social media signup here. There will be voter registration information in the lobby, plus a special talk by activist Betsy Sweet. This movie will rile up the youth vote but we have to get them into the theater to see it.

5. Ongoing: GOTV letters for Jared Golden.

Vote Forward is working to flip Congress blue. Send simple but heartfelt “please vote” letters to unlikely Democratic voters in key swing districts. Sign up here and learn how – it’s simple and you do only 5 letters at a time in minutes.

6. Donate to LCI’s ramp up the vote effort.

We’re publishing 3 hard-hitting issue ads in the local paper plus sponsoring the Fahrenheit 11/9 showing with free admission for people 25 and under. It takes money plus effort to do all that. You can help with the money by donating here. (If you have already done so, thank you.)
